Back in 2011, poker enthusiasts mourned the death of online poker in the US. However, through Bitcoin, online poker is back on its feet, and it seems as if the Bitcoin poker niche will continue to grow and match the size of the Bitcoin casino market as more poker rooms are formed. Case in point: the US-friendly Bitcoin poker site GetLuckyPoker.
GetLuckyPoker is the newest Bitcoin poker room to cater to worldwide players, providing an array of tournaments like Guaranteed, Freerolls, Sit N Go’s and Satellites. It is the brainchild of American professional poker player Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, together with his brothers and fellow pros Luis Velador and Mike Matusow.
Scheduled for a December or early January launch, Mizrachi’s Bitcoin poker room, which already partially operates online, will run on the software provided by Enterra Poker and will become available in two options: the downloadable client or the HTML5 client.
According to reports, GetLuckyPoker will also feature game variants like Badeci, Badugi, and Deuce to Seven on top of the staples Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha H/L, 7 Card Stud, and 7 Card Stud H/L.
GetLuckyPoker to Face Tough Competition
With professional poker players at the helm of this new Bitcoin gambling platform, it is rather inevitable to compare it with Breakout Gaming, a new site also featuring Bitcoin poker room backed by pros like Johnny Chan, Huck Seed, and Todd Brunson, among others.
Unlike Breakout Gaming, however, GetLuckyPoker will stick to Bitcoin as the main cryptocurrency to be accepted. Whether or not it will also process real-money payments is yet to be announced, though.
Another brand The Grinder’s poker site will challenge is BurnTurn. Finally up and running, BurnTurn, which banks on the software used by Satoshi Poker, provides a comic-like Bitcoin poker experience that is refreshing to the taste of the online poker community.
Moreover, standing in the way of GetLuckyPoker’s instant success is another pro poker player-run Bitcoin poker site, which happens to be the largest one in the market, SealsWithClubs. With Bryan Micon as the chairman, this online poker site has the widest base of players in the Bitcoin market, one that may even be bigger than the markets of most Bitcoin casino brands online.
Mizrachi, nonetheless, believes his new project will be exciting and that it will be a success.
