Atari Enters Blockchain World through The Sandbox

Are you a fan of Blockchain and gaming? Well, prepare to have your mind blown with Atari’s recent moves in relation to blockchain.

It’s widely known that when Blockchain and gaming meet, amazing things start happening. In this case, the game company Atari announced that they’re partnering up with the Sandbox (TSB) on a voxel Blockchain look at their platform and gaming content.

So, who is the Blockchain mastermind behind the collaboration?

Well, a startup called Animoca Brands that’s a parent company of TSB said that they aim to turn the gaming properties into 3D voxel ones. Such include Rollercoaster Tycoon, Asteroids, and others.

Furthermore, the Blockchain solution is Ethereum-based and the Sandbox offers a tool for creating NFTs and voxel assets within the game, a marketplace where you can trade the in-game assets, and a game maker option for people to create their own games.

Also, within the borders of the collaboration, Atari is going to get digital “estates” from the game universe. As you can probably tell, the estates are simply digital pieces where players can access the 3D voxel Atari content.

Of course, people can get estates by buying Land tokens and with these, they can build their very own games.

Currently, the plans for the Sandbox include having 166,464 tokens, virtual assets and Sand tokens.

Moreover, the gaming “metaverse” will have a couple of Atari games with attractions and other constructions and buildings. Players will have the opportunity to interact with their own characters and play together.

Frédéric Chesnais, Atari CEO said:

“Given that Atari’s iconic brands introduced so many people to their very first interactive entertainment, it only makes sense for us to be part of the imaginative experience that is The Sandbox. This exciting collaboration with The Sandbox also expands and deepens Atari’s strategic involvement in blockchain-powered and cryptocurrency-fueled entertainment.”

And some words from Sebastien Borget, COO & Co-Founder of The Sandbox:

“Atari is rightly celebrated as a pioneer in the world of gaming, and this partnership continues the brand’s innovation by bringing its treasured gaming heritage into the decentralized, blockchain-based metaverse of The Sandbox. Together, we are making history by creating the first virtual Atari theme park on blockchain, and it will be really fun for our players to play, explore, and create inside Atari-inspired virtual worlds.”

Until now, the Sandbox universe has more than 40 million downloads in total and achieved more than 1,300 ETH from the Land token presales.

To us, these events are quite significant to the Blockchain community and if more and more companies take such steps, Blockchain is well on its way to worldwide implementation.
