Online betting site Betway has become an official sponsor of the FACEIT London Major 2018, the second Major of the CS:GO professional scene this year.
Online sportsbook Betway has announced that it is now an official sponsor of the FACEIT London Major in September 2018.
Betway joins other notable sponsors of the second Major of the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) professional esports circuit this year, including HyperX, DXRacer, ZOWIE Global, and SteelSeries. The event is the first Major organized by esports production company FACEIT. The deal sees Betway also sponsoring the FACEIT Minors, the qualifying circuit for the London Major.
Anthony Werkman, CEO of Betway, said:
“We are thrilled to be sponsoring the FACEIT Major. The UK is full of very passionate CS:GO fans, and we are extremely excited to be involved. It will undoubtedly be the UK’s most impactful esports event of all time. FACEIT is an all important part of the esports community, and we couldn’t be happier to support them in the creation of this iconic event.”
Michele Attisani, FACEIT co-founder and CBO, added:
“Having Betway’s support is extremely exciting for us. The Major is the biggest esports event the UK has ever seen. It’s essential we work with industry leading partners like Betway to deliver an unforgettable tournament that will set a new standard for esports events in the UK.”
The FACEIT Major sponsorship is just one of many forays Betway has done in the professional CS:GO scene. In 2018, the betting operator served as one of the official partners of the ESL Pro League, ESL One Cologne, and the IEM XII – World Championship Katowice, among others.

Betway’s involvement in the Counter-Strike world does not stop with supporting events. The sportsbook also sponsors some of the most storied teams in the video game’s history.
On September 26, 2016, Betway announced that it agreed with one-time Major winners Ninjas in Pyjamas (NIP) to become the latter’s headline sponsor. NIP once dominated the Counter-Strike scene in 2012 when the team went on a record 87-map unbeaten run. The partnership, which runs up to this day, saw Betway’s logo appearing on the shirt of NIP’s CS:GO squad. Moreover, Betway released exclusive web content related to the players and staff of the team.
Betway has also closed a sponsorship deal with another major winning squad. In an announcement dated June 23, 2018, the betting company became a founding sponsor of the revived esports brand Made in Brazil (MIBR). The Brazilian team features the core members of the legendary Luminosity Gaming and SK Gaming CS:GO teams that won a total of two Majors and more than eight LAN tournaments in a span of two years.
“Betway is delighted to support the revival of MIBR and we couldn’t be more excited to be working with them in bringing CS:GO fans closer to the team through exclusive content. Esports is an extremely important part of our portfolio, and through the sponsorship of MIBR we will continue to cement ourselves as a significant part of the CS:GO community. We always strive to give back to esports fans by bridging the gap between the event and betting slip by producing great content and exciting markets in which fans can play.”
The FACEIT London Major will pit MIBR and 23 other teams with each other for the combined prize pool of US$1 million and the prestige of a Major title winner. The CS:GO tournament will take place at The SSE Arena in Wembley, London. Meanwhile, CS:GO faces issues as many view in-game loot boxes as gambling.
