BitPay Sponsors NCAA Football Game, Hints Benefits to Bitcoin Casinos

BitPay spearheaded the sponsorship of Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl to broaden digital currency awareness, which poses promising benefits to Bitcoin gambling.

Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl

Bitcoin casinos and sports betting sites can expect a possible increase in online gamblers later this year as BitPay has announced its three-year sponsorship of an annual college postseason football game sanctioned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

Now called Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl, the first-ever college football game sponsored by a cryptocurrency will kick off on December 26 in Florida and will serve as a tool to broaden Bitcoin awareness among mainstream audience like sports fans.

“Our goal is to continue to move Bitcoin into the mainstream and sponsoring the St. Petersburg Bowl offers us that opportunity,” said BitPay Executive Chairman Tony Gallippi. “College football fans and the Bitcoin community represent a similar target demographic—tech-savvy men between the ages of 18 and 40.”

The football event, indeed, is a great venue because the game is set to air on the US sports television network ESPN, which reportedly has a viewership of about 100 million American households.

According to reports, Bitcoin’s signature ‘B’ will become highly visible during live broadcasts and even on the field and merchandise, giving the digital currency its well-deserved exposure for the masses to gain knowledge of Bitcoin.

With the tickets, merchandise, and possible in-stadium purchases like food and beverages available for the digital currency, Bitcoin is definitely being groomed to take the limelight in the sporting scene and beyond.

NBA’s Sacramento Kings and MLS’ San Jose Earthquakes are sports teams that already accept Bitcoin for ticket and merchandise purchases. The addition of this NCAA football game is poised to further increase Bitcoin’s appeal to the demographic that also enjoys betting on casino games and sports online.

In fact, expect Bitcoin sports betting sites to add this bowl to the list of sporting events Bitcoin users can bet on, making it a win-win situation for Bitcoin per se and for the online gambling industry to be specific.

The high possibility for more Bitcoin adopters venturing into online Bitcoin casino gaming and sports betting is promising that such gambling platforms, with various forms of Bitcoin games related to sports in general, are expected to roll out special promotions to keep their appeal to the influx of new players on the high note.
