Fortnite Fall Skirmish and Other Highly Anticipated Esports Events this October

The month of October has some of the most hyped esports tournaments this year, including LoL World Championship 2018 and Fortnite Fall Skirmish.

2018 might be a quarter away from ending, but the esports scene has not stopped yet in giving the best events to its fans. Organizers have formed tournaments where viewers can cheer for their favorite teams. At the same time, bettors can place wagers on multiple odds offered by online sports betting sites.

Here are five of the biggest esports tournaments this October to mark on the calendar:

Oct. 10 | League of Legends World Championship

This year’s League of Legends (LoL) professional season will culminate in South Korea for the eighth edition of the month-long 2018 World Championship. NA’s Team Liquid, EU’s Fnatic, Korea’s kt Rolster, and 22 more esports organizations from around the world will compete for their share in the US$2.225 million total prize pool, as well as the chance to lift the Summoner’s Cup in front of enthusiastic fans at the Incheon Munhak Stadium.

The Worlds 2018 group stage starts on October 10, with quarterfinals scheduled on October 20 and 21, and semifinals on October 27 and 28. Meanwhile, the final match is scheduled for November 3.

Oct. 11 | PGL-PUBG Fall Invitational

The best squads in PLAYERUNKNOWN’s BATTLEGROUNDS will gather at the PGL Studio in Bucharest, Romania for the PGL-PUBG Fall Invitational. Organizers PGL and ImbaTV have invited 16 teams—including Faze Clan, Ghost, and Cloud 9—to play for the prize pool worth US$100,000.

Squads will play 24 matches spread throughout four days from October 11 to 14, with the highest point-earner declared as the winner.

Oct. 23 | ESL One Hamburg (Dota 2)

After a record-breaking The International last August, professional Dota 2 returns with ESL One Hamburg 2018. A dozen of top Dota 2 organizations will battle for the biggest part in the US$300,000 tournament prize. Teams participating include Dota 2 Circuit Major Winners Virtus.pro and Team Secret, as well as TI5 champion Evil Geniuses.

The event will be held on October 23 and 24, with the final matches taking place at the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany.

Oct. 23 | EPICENTER 2018 (CS:GO)

CounterStrike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) will head to the CSKA Arena in Moscow, Russia for EPICENTER 2018. CS:GO Major champions Astralis, FaZe Clan, and Natus Vincere have received direct invites to the tournament. Together with six more CS:GO teams, they will compete for their respective shares in the event’s US$300,000 prize pool.

The double-elimination group stage will start on October 23, with the final best-of-three match to be held on October 28.

Oct. 26 | Fortnite Fall Skirmish Final Week

The Fall Skirmish is a six-week series featuring Fortnite, a battle royale game arguably considered as the most popular title in the video game industry right now. More than 500 players in the North American and European servers, including Ninja, will compete for points and a part of the US$10 million prize pool.

The event has started on the fourth week of September, with the sixth and final week happening during TwitchCon 2018 on October 26 to 28 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in the United States.

Bettors can place wagers in some of the Bitcoin online sportsbooks offering odds on esports events, including Pinnacle, Sportsbet.io, and UltraPlay, to name a few.
