Juventus Star Cristiano Ronaldo New DAZN Ambassador
Perform Group’s global live and on-demand sports streaming service, DAZN, announced its newest signing—superstar football player Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese striker becomes DAZN’s first-ever global ambassador.
DAZN offers streams of different sporting leagues from all across the world live or on-demand. Some of the games offered include matches from the Italian Serie A TIM and Serie BKT, Spanish La Liga, and French Ligue 1, among others. Customers can watch the games on their smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, and gaming consoles.
“The world is changing and thanks to an innovative approach, DAZN is breaking down barriers for sports fans. Now we can watch sport however and whenever we want, which is why, for me, being part of DAZN’s journey was an easy decision to make.”
James Rushton, DAZN CEO, added:
“This is an incredibly exciting time for DAZN. As our business grows internationally and pushes new boundaries, it’s important that we align ourselves with sporting greats who do the same. Cristiano [Ronaldo] is undoubtedly a legend, fans love him and that’s why we wanted to work with him. He’s a sports fan himself, so having him advocating the work we’re doing is perfect.”
Ronaldo will play an important part in promoting DAZN’s services across the market, including Italy, Germany, Austria, Japan, Canada, and other countries to be added in the near future. DAZN will be open to potential US customers with its launch on September 10, 2018.
Cristiano’s Italian Challenge
Meanwhile, in an interview with DAZN, Ronaldo described his recent move to Italian champions Juventus as his destiny.
This summer, the Italian club secured the services of the 2017 FIFA Golden Ball winner from Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid for €100 million in fees. Ronaldo signed a four-year contract with an annual net salary rumored to be around €30 million.
Ronaldo believes that the Juventus squad he joined is one of the best teams in the scene. After all, his new team has won the Serie A for seven years in a row. Many believe that Juve is many levels ahead of other teams in Italy. Oddsmakers agree as well, with bet365 and William Hill pricing the odds of Juventus ending the season as Italian champions at 4/9 and 2/5, respectively.
Despite its local supremacy, Juve last won the European crown more than two decades ago in 1996. But the new signing is confident that the club can win the elusive trophy during his stay.
“The team is strong and Juve, as everyone knows, is one of the best clubs in the world. I want to win the Champions League with Juventus. We’ll focus on that, with my teammates but without obsessing over it. We’ll go step-by-step and then we’ll see if it’s this year, next year, or the year after that.”
With the acquisition of the five-time European champion, the Juventus management, players, and fans hope that Ronaldo can transform the Italian club into continental giants.
Odds from online sportsbooks suggest that Ronaldo and Juventus can reach the UEFA Champions League final at the end of the season. William Hill and bet365 both priced the odds of Juve winning the whole tournament at 6/1.
