After announcing the release of two new video slots based on two original NetFlix TV series, is NetEnt planning to make more TV show-themed slots this year?
NetEnt CEO Per Eriksson said in an interview that popular series inspired the theme of the company’s latest slot games.
Slot enthusiasts and fans of Netflix shows can expect much from NetEnt because of its excellent track record in creating branded slots like Aliens as well as South Park. Will the software provider follow the trend and continue making titles based on Netflix’s television series?
NetEnt’s Success Comes from Happy Customers
Eriksson said NetEnt is all about making products that will make players happy. For this reason, NetEnt pursues innovative advances in the iGaming industry like VR casinos and live dealer games. He added that innovation is what helps NetEnt drive the gaming market.
NetEnt aims to bring in fans of the NetFlix series, Narcos, with its announcement of launching a slot game based on the high-rating show. NetEnt also taps the followers of Vikings, another most watched original Netflix series, as the company will soon add the Vikings slot to NetEnt’s portfolio. Narcos is a drama series based on the true life story of Pablo Escobar while Vikings is another drama series based on Ragnar Lothbrok’s exploits.
Eriksson said in the interview:
“Right now, as you know, it is not just movies anymore. It is TV series. They have more viewers than normal movies. We went into that space [TV series] this year and the first brand that we revealed was Narcos, the highest ranked series on Netflix. So, we’re proud to be able to announce that. And for me, coming from Scandinavia, this [Vikings] brand is special. There are 37 million people watching it in 60 different countries.”
Meanwhile, Hentrik Fagerlund, CPO of NetEnt,said:
“We’re continuing to push boundaries with our branded games and Narcos is certainly one of our biggest deals to date. The series became an overnight sensation with a huge fan base all over the world, and it gives us yet another demographic who can have fun playing our games. Vikings has quickly become a TV favourite since the first season in 2013 and appeals to a vast audience worldwide. It’s a classic and historical theme packed with action and we’re sure the players will be looking forward to the launch later this year.”
It is not yet clear if NetEnt plans on working on other popular Netflix original shows like Stranger Things or House of Cards. The software provider might also consider shows from other companies like AMC, which made the mega hit American horror television series, The Walking Dead. What is definite is that NetEnt will only consider shows that have a large established fan base.
NetEnt’s Branded Slots and Features to Expect
Fans of the Netflix series Narcos and Vikings can expect NetEnt to represent the best element of these Netflix Originals with its innovative features. These features are found in the popular branded slots from NetEnt.
The Universal Studios Monster Dracula slot provides a Scattered Wild Bat feature that triggers randomly during the regular round of the game. This feature shows an animation of Dracula turning into a cloud of bats and invades the reels.
South Park: Reel Chaos Slot
This branded slot is based on The Coon South Park episodes. The South Park slot provides four random features in the normal mode of the game. These random features provide short animations of South Park characters and various slot advantages like bet multiplier as well as Wild Reels. The Epic Bonus Spins mode of the game has the character Mintberry Crunch fight three villains. Defeating each villain increases the bet multiplier of the Epic Bonus Spins mode.
The Sci-Fi suspense element of the movie is properly represented by the Aliens slot’s three-level gameplay. Each level provides a unique objective and clearing them allows players to advance to the next level or grab a big payout. The horror element of the movie can be experienced in the second level wherein players need to win enough ammo to progress to the third level. Losing all ammo in the second level will show players a death animation of the marine and will send them back to the first level.
