Play’n GO Draws Slot Players and Metal Fans in House of Doom

Online casino game developer Play’n GO has released House of Doom slot, inspired by a doom metal song of the same name by famous Swedish band Candlemass.

Play’n GO opened the gates of despair for players to enter the mysterious House of Doom.

The developer released the three-row, five-reel slot game to the public this June, after it was made available exclusively to select operators last March. Named after a doom metal single by Candlemass—one of the genre’s defining bands—House of Doom features Play’n GO’s trademark hi-spec visuals and exciting game mechanics.

According to the House of Doom website, the idea of collaborating with the legendary metal icons came from Play’n GO’s Chief Operating Officer Martin Zettegeren, who made sure that the game would fit perfectly with Candlemass’ doom metal music.

Tamas Ujszaszi, Play’n GO games producer, shared:

“The House of Doom project was a lot of fun. Creating a game based around this genre of music, and a specific song, was a unique experience for us all. It was also a lot of fun to see developers headbanging while testing the game out!”

The Swedish band played an important role in establishing doom metal as a musical genre. Music buffs credit the band’s Epicus Doomicus Metallicus as the one who inspired the genre’s name. The collaboration allowed Play’n GO to pull Candlemass fans—young and old—into playing online casino games.

Johan Törnqvist, Play’n GO CEO, said:

“House of Doom sees a collaboration and marketing scope not seen before in the gaming industry, and we’re looking forward to bringing exclusive events and materials to our fans in the coming months. Our artists and developers have managed to bring an innovative concept to life which will appeal to heavy metal fans, as well as those simply wanting a top-quality slots experience.”

Candlemass’ song House of Doom is available for purchase through different online music stores.

Doom-Inspired Slot Gives Big Wins

Bettors are invited to go inside the House of Doom, set in a world of “extreme style heavy metal music, where both music and lyrics intend to evoke a sense of despair, dread, and impending doom.” Players can wager 0.10 coins up to the maximum 100 coins in this game which can reward a maximum of 2,500 times the placed bets.

The 10-payline slot is decorated with chains and skulls, with occasional lightning strikes illuminating the background. When the reels start spinning, players will be introduced to an off-vocal version of Candlemass’ House of Doom, alternating between the fast-paced tune and the slower guitar play. A win on a payline triggers a guitar riff, which becomes stronger depending on how big the rewards are.

A blue seer peering into an illuminating orb represents the standard Wild symbol, which replaces any other icon except Scatters. Wilds can expand to other places with the help of the Hellgate. The game randomly appoints one reel to become the Hellgate, represented by a golden border. A Wild appearing on the Hellgate will expand vertically, replacing other symbols on the reel. If a player lands five Wilds on a payline, they can expect a 100x reward.

A flaming skull pierced from two directions depicts the Scatter symbol. Three Scatter symbols on the reels bring bettors to a Bonus Game in which 15 skulls hide different rewards. Bettors must choose one skull to uncover 3x, 2x, or 1x bet multipliers—all of which also award players another chance to pick a skull. More enticing rewards consist of 5x multiplier, 20x multiplier, and a House of Doom symbol.

Meanwhile, the purple House of Doom logo represents the Free Spins symbol. Three of this icon anywhere on the reels brings players inside the House of Doom, the stage for the game’s Doom Spins. The feature awards bettors 10 free spins.

During Doom Spins, a normal Free Spins symbol becomes a Wild—now depicted by a blue House of Doom logo. The Wild House of Doom substitutes for any symbol and gives players an additional free spin. In addition, two to five Hellgates can spawn in the slot all throughout the Doom Spins duration. Standard Wilds and Wild House of Doom symbols showing in a Hellgate will also expand vertically.

Play’n GO’s House of Doom can be played on both mobile and desktop applications. The game is available on Play’n GO’s online casino clients.
