Famous rapper Kanye West has a chance to win the upcoming 2020 elections, according to online bookies. However, the odds were not as short as he would like.
UPDATE: Kanye West did not run for the presidency, but Joe Biden and Donald Trump did. Based on 2020 US election odds, Joe Biden will be elected US president.
Prominent American rapper Kanye West is trending once more after his recent visit to the US White House drew flak online.
At the same day artists appeared in Washington for the signing of the Music Modernization Act, Grammy Award winner West took the opportunity to visit his “brother,” US President Donald Trump.
West—a vocal supporter of the commander-in-chief—and Trump—himself a divisive figure worldwide—talked as reporters and photographers surround them in the Oval Office. The still image of West standing in front of the president’s table could not be the last Americans would see the rapper inside the presidential office space.

West has repeatedly shown his desire for the highest position in the country. The 41-year-old hip-hop artist said in 2015 that he would run in the 2020 US elections, only delaying it to 2024 with respect to Trump.
Online bookmakers believed that West—with no experience in politics like the then-candidate Trump—has a shot at becoming the 46th US president by winning the 2020 polls.
The catch, however, is that West has only the slimmest of chances to win.
Bookies provided long odds on West winning the 2020 presidential election. As of October 12, two years before the polls, BetStars and bet365 priced a West victory at 150/1 while William Hill and Ladbrokes offered 100/1 odds. At the same time, 888sport and Unibet had West at 500/1.
These sites also offer odds on a list of potential presidential candidates, some of which are realistic while others are far-fetched.
Incumbent President Trump was the clear frontrunner, with the odds of 6/4, 11/8, and 5/4 from bet365, William Hill, and betway, in that order. The same bookmakers had Senator Kamala Harris as a close second at 8/1, 8/1, and 7/1. Far behind but still ahead of West was actor and professional wrestler Dwayne Johnson, priced at 50/1, 33/1, and 50/1.
The current president is just halfway through his term and the election is still a couple of years away. West even ruled himself out of the 2020 polls. However, many things could happen inside 24 months that might shake the political scene.
Who knows if a political novice like West could become president, similar to Trump’s situation two years ago?
