What is the last risk you took? Was it a risk involving your personal life, your finance or someone you love dearly?
History knows its fair share of risk takers and we will go through them one by one. Yes, they are not gambling-related, but still quite fun to know. After all, taking risks is a an integral part of playing games in both online casinos and land-based casinos.
JK Rowling
Joanne Rowling, the woman who brought life to the wizarding world of Harry Potter, actually struggled a great deal whilst writing the first part of the series. This took place between 1990 and 1995 when she didn’t have a job. She had depression and she was a single mom who lived on social welfare benefits. Actually, she started writing in one café and later on experienced rejection like no other, when no one wanted to publish her book. However, she didn’t give up and the publishing house Bloomsbury decided to do it. So, five months later, the book became a living and breathing piece of history
Beyoncé
She is one of the biggest hustlers the music industry has ever known. One of the biggest risks she took was releasing her self-entitled album on iTunes in 2013 via an unpromoted partnership with Apple. She then announced it on social media. Furthermore, it became her fifth consecutive successful album hitting number one in the US charts.
Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong
One man had a dream to land on the moon and on the 20th of July, 1969 the astronauts from the Apollo 11 went on a 240,000-mile flight in space and took their first steps on the moon for all humanity to see.
Sir Edmund Hillary
This is the first-ever man to climb Mt. Everest alongside Nepalese Sherpa Tenzing Norgay. They reached the highest point on the 29th of May 1953. Later on, in 1958, he joined the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition, reaching both the North and South Pole.
Elon Musk
Whenever you hear about technology, you most likely think of this man. Musk is known for dropping out of his energy and physics PhD program in Stanford University to launch the Zip2 company. From selling the company, he earned more than 22 million dollars. After that, he launched establishX.com and the famous Paypal. When the latter was sold to eBay, he earned another 165 million dollars. As their companies went well on their way, Musk started his business with space exploring in 2001. In 2002, he founded SpaceX and won a 1.6 billion-dollar contract from NASA. Later on, he used his money and power to join the directors board in Tesla with getting SolarCity from Tesla for 2.1 billion dollars. Talk about loads of risks in here, right?
