Romanian Regulator Awards Game Developer Betsoft Class II License

Players from Bucharest and beyond can now enjoy quality 3D casino games after Romania licensed Betsoft Gaming.

On June 11, the gaming provider made public its receipt of a Class II License issued by Romania’s Oficiul Național pentru Jocuri de Noroc (National Gambling Office). The license allows Betsoft to supply legal gaming operators in the country with its wide range of different online casino games, including well-known titles such as Slotfather 2, Fafa Twins, and Kawaii Kitty.

Julian Camilleri, Betsoft’s account management director, said:

“We are incredibly pleased to have earned the opportunity to provide our games to such an exciting market, at the right time in its evolution. [The] Romanian iGaming industry has grown dramatically, spurred on by clearer guidelines and better structures for player protection. While other providers rushed in early, we now believe the time is right for an educated player base to engage with our cutting-edge content, and for mature operators to truly benefit from our proven platforms.”

A Romanian Class II License is awarded to business-to-business providers in the field of gambling so that they can legally provide auxiliary services in the country. The service providers required to obtain a Class II License include manufacturers and distributors of gaming equipment, platform hosting providers, software developers, marketing affiliates, and payment processors, among others. After receiving a license, they can now offer their services to Class I License holders—gambling games operators—in Romanian soil.

Like Betsoft, different game developers have also acquired licenses from Romania’s National Gaming Office—including BetConstruct, Play’n GO, and Pragmatic Play.

An Expanding Betsoft Experience

The Romanian license is just one of the many licenses Betsoft Gaming owns to service a growing iGaming market. The Malta-based software provider holds a Class 4 License from the Malta Gaming Authority and an eGaming License from Curaçao eGaming. In addition, a number of its games received certification from QUINEL Ltd. and NMi Gaming Labs. Betsoft is also authorized to distribute its content in different regulated markets—most notably to Italy with approval from the country’s Amministrazione Autonoma dei Monopoli di Stato (Autonomous Administration of the State Monopolies).

Camilleri said:

“Internationalisation is one of the cornerstones of our strategy for the near future, and we have worked hard over the last twelve months to lay the foundations for further growth at home and abroad. While Betsoft creates games with universal themes and intuitive gameplay mechanics, our portfolio of content is also broad enough that operators in individual regions can prioritise certain themes or features that will appeal to their market.  Our objectives are simple: to make the strongest possible entries into the right jurisdictions, and to be recognised in new regions for the signature style of cinematic gaming that has already made Betsoft a powerful force in our existing markets.”

Betsoft Gaming is an online casino software provider boasting more than 190 titles available for play through different affiliated remote gaming operators. Founded in 2006, Betsoft is famous for its SLOTS3 series—a collection of slot titles equipped with 3D cinematic graphics and animation.
