A US$10 million prize pool and one of the Platinum Pass prizes are up for grabs with PokerStars Sunday Million 12th Anniversary Edition: Take 2. The second take of the Sunday Million is to make up for the underwhelming number of entries and missed guaranteed prize pool amount in the previous tournament in February.
Severin Rasset, director of poker innovation and operations at PokerStars, said:
“Thanks to player loyalty and passion, there is no other place to play for such big prizes at such low buy-ins. We know a US$10 million guarantee is not easy to reach, but we relish the challenge. We believe that our players want to play tournaments like this, where life-changing money is won and lifelong memories are made. If we miss a guarantee or two along the way, it’s worth the risk!”
The second Sunday Million event will take place on April 22. Other than joining the main event, players also have a chance to enter the massive event for as low as US$5 and win US$1.2 million with PokerStars Spin and Go tournaments.
Reason for the Sunday Million Take 2
The second Sunday Million this year was the result of a low buy-in total because of fewer entries for the event. This resulted in missing about US$1.2 million in prize pool from the guaranteed US$10 million. Fortunately, PokerStars honored their promise by paying the US$1.2 million out of its pocket.
Many speculated that the reason for the low turnout of the Sunday Million was the Super Bowl which ran on the same weekend. The event had less than 44,000 entries that day.
