Texas Hold’em, Omaha and Short Deck in brief

Texas Hold’em. Each player gets two private cards. Five community cards arrive in three stages (the flop of three, then the turn, then the river), with a betting round before the flop and after each stage. You make the best five-card hand from any mix of your two cards and the five on the board. Two forced bets, the small and big blind, start each pot.

Omaha. You receive four private cards and must use exactly two of them with exactly three community cards. Hands run stronger than in Hold’em, so a flush or straight that looks safe in Hold’em is often beaten. Most online Omaha is pot-limit: the largest raise equals the size of the pot.
