Crypto Crash Games: Aviator, Stake Crash and the Maths Behind the Multiplier

A crypto crash game shows a multiplier that climbs from 1.00x until it “crashes” at a random point; you cash out before the crash to win your stake times the multiplier, or lose the stake if you wait too long. The best-known versions are Spribe’s Aviator, which Spribe lists at a 97% RTP, and the in-house crash originals at Stake and BC.Game, where Stake states a 1% house edge. Below we compare where to play them with Bitcoin, work through the odds of reaching each multiplier, and show how to check a round yourself.

The casinos listed accept international players outside each brand’s restricted list. None of them accepts players from the United States or the United Kingdom; US readers can see our guide for US crypto players. Dracula Casino and Kingdom Casino are partner casinos and are listed first for that reason.

Where to play crash games with crypto

We list only casinos where our checks found a crash game: on the operator’s own pages, in its terms, or in our verified casino data.

For the lowest published edge, Stake’s own Crash is the pick; read our Stake review for payments and limits. Players who want Aviator with a bonus should note the rules: FortuneJack’s welcome missions count Aviator turnover, while Kingdom Casino bars Aviator while a bonus is running. Our 7Bit review and BC.Game review cover the other two large crash lobbies.

Spribe describes Aviator as a social multiplayer game in which a curve rises and can crash at any time, and says the format came from the video gaming industry and caught on in crypto casinos because it is simple. Pragmatic Play’s Spaceman page lists auto-cashout and a 50% auto-cashout option that banks half the stake at one multiplier and lets the rest ride. bustabit still bills itself as “the original crash game”, and its multiplayer, hash-chain design is the model many crypto crash games copied.

How a crash round works

  1. Betting window. You set a stake in BTC, USDT or another coin before the round starts, and optionally an auto cash-out multiplier.
  2. Take-off. The multiplier starts at 1.00x and rises, usually faster the longer the round lasts.
  3. Cash out. Pressing cash out (or hitting your auto target) locks in stake times the current multiplier.
  4. Crash. At the pre-set crash point the round ends; anyone still in loses the stake. Some rounds crash at or near 1.00x, so nobody can cash out.

Multiplayer versions such as Aviator show everyone’s bets and cash-outs live, and many let you place two bets in the same round with different targets. Single-player originals such as Stake’s Crash resolve the same way, only without the shared screen.

The maths: odds of reaching each multiplier

Stake publishes its crash formula on its provably fair game events page: a random number from your seeds is turned into a crash point of 0.99 divided by that number, rounded down to two decimals, with a floor of 1.00x. The 0.99 is the 1% house edge. In plain terms, the chance that a round reaches a multiplier of x is about 0.99 / x.

Cash-out target Chance the round reaches it Return on 0.001 BTC if it does Expected value per 0.001 BTC
1.5x 66.0% 0.0015 BTC 0.00099 BTC
2x 49.5% 0.002 BTC 0.00099 BTC
5x 19.8% 0.005 BTC 0.00099 BTC
10x 9.9% 0.01 BTC 0.00099 BTC
100x 0.99% 0.1 BTC 0.00099 BTC
1,000x 0.099% 1 BTC 0.00099 BTC

The last column is the point. Whatever target you choose, each 0.001 BTC bet returns 0.00099 BTC on average, because the 1% edge is built into every multiplier. A low target gives frequent small wins; a high one gives rare large wins; neither changes the expected loss.

Speed is what makes crash expensive. Suppose you play 500 rounds an evening at 0.001 BTC: that is 0.5 BTC wagered, an expected cost of 0.005 BTC at Stake’s 1% edge and about 0.015 BTC at Aviator’s 97% RTP. The edge per round looks small; the number of rounds is not.

Strategies: what works and what does not

Auto cash-out

Setting an automatic target is the most useful tool in the game. It removes hesitation and stops “one more second” losses, but it does not improve the odds in the table above.

Martingale

Doubling after every loss at a 2x target wins small amounts often, then meets a losing streak. At a 49.5% hit rate, ten misses in a row happen about once in 927 sequences, and covering them takes 1,023 times your base stake in total. Maximum bets and balances stop the system long before the maths could work.

Split bets

Two bets in one round, one with a low target and one left to run, or Spaceman’s 50% auto-cashout, smooth out results. The combined bet still carries the game’s house edge.

“Predictor” apps and signals

Apps, bots and Telegram channels that claim to predict crash points cannot work on a provably fair game: the result depends on a server seed that stays secret until after the round, combined with player seeds. Many of these offers are scams aimed at getting your login or a deposit to a fake site. Ignore them.

How to check a crash round is fair

Crash games use one of three fairness models, and how you verify depends on which one the game runs.

  • Per-bet seeds (Stake, BC.Game originals). The casino shows a hashed server seed before you bet; your client seed and a nonce are combined with it. After you rotate the seed pair, the revealed server seed lets you recompute each crash point with the published formula.
  • Shared seeds (Aviator). Spribe generates a server seed for the round and combines it with client seeds from the first players to bet; the round history shows the seeds and the resulting hash, so you can check any past round.
  • Hash chains (bustabit-style). The operator pre-generates a long chain of hashes and plays it backwards, publishing the final hash in advance so later rounds can be matched against it.

To verify a Stake-style round: copy the revealed server seed, your client seed and the nonce from the bet details, run them through the casino’s verifier or an independent HMAC-SHA256 tool, apply the formula above and compare the crash point. Our provably fair guide walks through a full worked example. Provably fair proves the result was not changed after your bet; it says nothing about withdrawals or licensing.

Crash games and bonuses

Many casinos treat crash games differently under bonus terms. FortuneJack’s welcome missions count turnover on eligible slots and Aviator, with losing bets and cash-outs at 1.5x or higher counting double. Kingdom Casino lists Aviator among the games you cannot play while a bonus is active. Check the contribution table before playing crash with bonus money, because a barred game can void the bonus. See our welcome bonus guide for wagering basics.

Crash vs dice vs plinko

All three are quick, crypto-native games with provably fair versions. Dice lets you set an exact win chance and see it before the roll; crash hides the result until it happens and adds the tension of timing; plinko spreads results across a board of multipliers set by rows and risk. At Stake all three carry the same 1% edge. Compare them on our crypto dice page and our plinko guide, or browse the full crypto casino games hub.

Playing crash responsibly

Rounds last seconds, so set a budget and a session time before you start, and use auto cash-out rather than chasing a bigger multiplier after a loss. Casinos on this page offer deposit limits and self-exclusion; our responsible gambling page lists outside help. You must be 18 or the legal age where you live, whichever is higher.

Crypto crash game FAQ

Is crash a real gambling game?

Yes. Crash is a real-money casino game in which you bet on how high a rising multiplier will go before it crashes. Licensed crypto casinos offer it as an in-house original or as a provider game such as Spribe’s Aviator, and it carries a house edge like any other casino game.

What is the best crypto crash game?

On published numbers, Stake’s own Crash has the lowest edge we found at 1% (99% RTP). Spribe’s Aviator is the most widely available and lists a 97% RTP. Both are provably fair.

Can you predict when a crash game will crash?

No. On provably fair crash games the crash point comes from a server seed that stays secret until after the round, combined with player seeds. Apps and signals that claim to predict it are often scams.

What are the odds of hitting 2x in a crash game?

On Stake’s published formula the chance of a round reaching x is about 0.99 divided by x, so 2x comes up about 49.5% of the time, 10x about 9.9% and 100x about 0.99%.

Is there a crash game strategy that works?

No strategy beats the house edge, because every cash-out target has the same expected return. Auto cash-out and fixed stakes help you control a session; doubling systems such as Martingale eventually hit a losing streak the bet limit cannot cover.

Is Aviator provably fair?

Yes. Spribe combines a server seed with client seeds from the first players to bet in each round, and you can check past rounds from the game’s history.

Can I play crash games for free?

Many casinos and providers offer demo modes for crash games, including Spribe’s Aviator. Demo rounds use play money, so they are useful for learning auto cash-out settings without risking crypto.
