How Ethereum deposits work

Ethereum is a blockchain that runs smart contracts as well as payments. Since The Merge on 15 September 2022, it has used proof of stake: validators propose a block in each 12-second slot, and transactions are usually included within a few slots when the fee is set sensibly. For a casino deposit, the steps are:

1. Choose ETH in the cashier and check which network the casino expects. Stake, for example, shows separate addresses for ERC-20 and BEP-20.
2. Copy the deposit address. Ethereum addresses start with “0x” and are 42 characters long. The same address format is used on many networks, which is exactly why the network choice matters.
3. Send from your wallet on the matching network, with a small test amount first.
4. Wait for confirmations. The casino credits the deposit after the number of confirmations it states.
5. Check the transaction on a block explorer such as Etherscan if it has not arrived.

Gas fees

Every Ethereum transaction pays a fee in ETH, called gas, made up of a base fee that is burned and a priority tip for validators. The base fee rises when blocks are full and falls when they are not, so the cost of a simple ETH transfer changes through the day. Before sending, look at a live gas tracker such as Etherscan’s. A plain ETH transfer uses 21,000 gas; token transfers such as USDT on ERC-20 use more, so they cost more to send than ETH itself.

Worked example: at a base fee plus tip of 2 gwei, a 21,000-gas ETH transfer costs 42,000 gwei, or 0.000042 ETH. At 20 gwei it costs ten times as much, 0.00042 ETH. Gas is priced in gwei, where one gwei is one billionth of an ether.

Layer 2 networks and why they matter

Layer 2 networks such as Arbitrum, Optimism and Base process transactions off the main chain and settle them on Ethereum, which makes transfers much cheaper. Dencun, the upgrade of 13 March 2024, introduced “blobs” (EIP-4844), a cheaper way for layer 2s to post data to Ethereum, and cut their fees sharply. Pectra followed on 7 May 2025.

Here is the catch for casino players: a deposit only arrives if the casino supports the exact network you send on. We could not confirm layer 2 deposit support at any of the casinos on this page for this update, so assume the Ethereum main network (ERC-20) unless the cashier shows another option. Sending ETH on Arbitrum or Base to an address that expects mainnet ETH can strand the funds.

ERC-20 tokens at Ethereum casinos

ERC-20 is the standard that most tokens on Ethereum follow, including the dollar stablecoins USDT and USDC. When a casino lists “USDT (ERC-20)”, it means Tether on the Ethereum main network. Three points matter for players.

• Gas is paid in ETH. Sending USDT on Ethereum still needs a little ETH in the same wallet to pay the fee. A wallet holding only USDT cannot send it.
• Token transfers cost more gas than plain ETH transfers, because they run contract code.
• Only send the tokens the casino lists. A token the casino does not support may never be credited, even if it was sent to a valid 0x address.

If you see an unfamiliar token appear in your wallet out of nowhere, do not interact with it. Unsolicited tokens are a common lure for phishing sites.

Choosing the right network: a checklist

• Read the network name in the cashier, not just the coin. “ETH (ERC-20)” and “ETH (BEP-20)” are different.
• Set your wallet to the same network before pasting the address.
• Match tokens too. USDT on Ethereum, TRON, BNB Smart Chain and Solana are different deposits with different addresses.
• Send a test amount the first time you use a new casino, network or wallet.
• Keep the transaction hash. If a deposit goes missing, support will ask for it.

Common ETH deposit problems and how to fix them

The transaction is stuck as pending

If you set a fee too low when the network was busy, the transaction can wait in the queue. Wallets such as MetaMask offer “speed up”, which resends the same transaction with a higher fee, or “cancel”, which replaces it with a zero-value transfer to yourself at a higher fee. Both work because Ethereum processes each address’s transactions strictly in order, using a counter called the nonce. A stuck transaction also blocks the ones after it from the same address until it clears.

The deposit confirmed but the casino has not credited it

Check the transaction on a block explorer: the “to” address must match the casino’s deposit address exactly, and the network must be the one the casino listed. If both are right, send support the transaction hash. Deposits below the casino’s minimum may not be credited automatically.

I sent on the wrong network

Contact support at once with the transaction hash and the network you used. Some casinos can recover funds sent on a compatible network because the same 0x address may exist there, but they are not obliged to, and some charge for it. Do not send more to “push” the first deposit.

I sent a token the casino does not accept

The casino’s system will not credit it. Ask support whether it can return the tokens, and expect delays and possible fees.

ETH vs BTC at a casino

ETH or a stablecoin?

Ether’s price moves a lot, so an ETH casino balance changes in value even when you are not playing. If you deposit 0.1 ETH and withdraw 0.1 ETH a week later after breaking even, a 10% price drop leaves you 10% down in dollar terms. Stablecoins such as USDT and USDC, which track the US dollar, remove that swing. On Ethereum they are ERC-20 tokens, which cost more gas to move than ETH; cheaper networks such as TRON or Polygon exist for USDT where the casino supports them, as Stake’s list shows. If your wallet holds USDT on TRON, for example, choose the TRC-20 option and its address; picking ERC-20 and sending from TRON would fail. Other casinos show their options only inside the cashier, so read the network label there every time, since lists change.

What we checked for this page

For this October 2026 update we confirmed that each casino listed above names Ethereum among its accepted currencies on its own website: in its terms, bonus terms, welcome-offer page, payments list or help centre. We recorded each casino’s operator and licence from its terms or footer, and took bonus figures from its own promotion pages. A self-custody wallet gives you control over withdrawals and keeps casino activity separate from your exchange account. Two Ethereum-specific risks deserve attention. Address poisoning, where scammers send tiny transfers from look-alike addresses so you copy the wrong one from your history, is common on Ethereum. And token approvals: casinos do not need you to approve any smart contract to receive a deposit, so be wary of any “casino” site that asks your wallet to sign an approval or a permit.

Depositing with MetaMask, step by step

1. Open the casino cashier, choose ETH and note the network it names, such as “Ethereum” or “ERC-20”.
2. Open MetaMask and select the same network from the network menu. For the Ethereum main network, that is “Ethereum Mainnet”.
3. Click Send, paste the casino’s 0x address, and compare the first and last six characters with the cashier.
4. Enter a small test amount and review the gas estimate MetaMask shows. If the fee looks high, wait for a quieter time.
5. Confirm, then follow the transaction from MetaMask’s activity tab or on Etherscan.
6. Once the casino credits the test, repeat with the main amount.

Leave a little ETH in the wallet after any USDT or USDC deposit, because future token transfers need ETH for gas.

Ethereum casino checklist before your first deposit

• Your country is not on the casino’s restricted list or the bonus’s excluded list.
• The cashier lists ETH, and you know which network it expects.
• The licence seal opens a validator on the regulator’s own domain and names the same company as the terms.
• You have read the wagering, maximum bet and any cashout cap if you plan to take a bonus.

How an Ethereum withdrawal works

Ethereum players often want verifiable results. The CGA does not mediate individual disputes; complaints go to the casino and then to a CGA-certified ADR body. Offshore crypto casinos block countries that run their own licensing systems, such as the US and the UK.
